De Profundis

Letter from G to PA (2013-3-21), page 2

When people are looking for a neighbourhood in which to settle, they tend to look for signs and signals that a place is unsavory, such as furtive glances from behind window blinds, glimpses for just seconds through barely open door of people robed in particular colours with emblems on them, strange goings on at all hours and sounds of music and drums rhythmic but unsettling …

But, what may appear to the untrained eye to be just another sketchy neighborhood full of gangs and criminal activity is, in fact, exactly the kind of vernacular temple district for which I was looking. It is here that the gangs are actually Orders and the criminals are really ritualists and goetes.

Apparently I was also in an odd mood today because when I noticed one of the neighbours from the house where these alleged Rosicrucians gather, I caught his eye and said, “Have fun storming the Equinox!” He replied with an amused smirk, a slight nod and then we continued on our separate ways.
